traffic alert: New Traffic Pattern for Loop 49/Route K Pavement Repair in Nevada Beginning Oct. 8

Where: Loop 49/Vernon County Route K (Austin Boulevard) in Nevada

When: Beginning Wednesday, October 8 for the duration of the project

What: Contractor crews will shift traffic from current head-to-head configuration on Loop 49/Route K (Austin Boulevard) and divert westbound Route K on to I-49 north to U.S. Route 54 (Centennial Boulevard) for the duration of the project

Traffic impacts:

  • Westbound Route K diverted to northbound I-49 at Exit 101 to U.S. Route 54 at Exit 102
  • Eastbound Loop 49/Route K (Austin Boulevard) will have no access to I-49 for duration of project
  • Southbound I-49 off- and on-ramps CLOSED at Exit 101 for duration of project
  • Northbound I-49 off-ramp CLOSED at Exit 101 for duration of project
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers will experience traffic delays and should find alternate routes around work zone
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.

This work is part of a project to repair the pavement on Loop 49/Route K (Austin Boulevard) between Johnson Drive and a point east of the northbound I-49 on- and off-ramps. In addition to the pavement repair, contractor crews will also add permanent pavement striping.

  • Prime Contractor – Realm Construction Inc., Blue Springs
  • Project Cost - $1 million
  • Contract Completion Date: November 1, 2025
