Utility Work Scheduled in Callaway, Montgomery and Warren Counties

Work is part of the Improve I-70 Program

The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin surveying and locating utilities as it prepares for the Kingdom City to Warrenton segment of Improve I‑70.

This work will occur along the I-70 corridor and neighboring outer roads in Callaway, Montgomery and Warren counties. It may include some excavation work to locate existing utilities.

Weather permitting, the work will run from the week of April 13 through late May.

At this time, motorists can expect intermittent lane closures along the outer roads, where crews are actively working during the daylight hours. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

The Improve I-70 Kingdom City to Warrenton project is anticipated for award in late 2026. Construction is tentatively set to take place from 2027-2030.

Missouri’s FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
