MoDOT: U.S. Route 160 Bridge Replacement Project Over Swan Creek in Forsyth Focus of Public Meeting

Taney County – Those interested in the U.S. Route 160 Bridge Replacement Project over Swan Creek in Forsyth are invited to a public meeting to discuss proposed improvements and project information on Tuesday, August 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The come-and-go style meeting will be held from 4:30 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, at the Forsyth Municipal Building, 15405 US-160, Forsyth. No formal presentation is planned. Those who attend may come anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn about the project, ask questions, and leave comments.

Those unable to attend the in-person meeting can view exhibits and obtain project information at www.modot.org/southwest. Comments on this project can be mailed in, emailed, or submitted online through the project website until Tuesday, August 25. For those unable to access the online meeting, contact MoDOT’s Southwest District Office, and accommodations will be made to share the information and gather feedback.

Project highlights:

  • Replace the U.S. Route 160 Bridge over Swan Creek in Forsyth
  • New bridge located north of the existing structure 
  • New bridge will be 8 feet wider and 21 feet longer
  • Removal of the existing steel truss bridge after completion of the new bridge

Traffic Impacts:

  • U.S. Route 160
    • Will remain OPEN during the majority of construction
    • Have short-term CLOSURES as crews move equipment or material into the work zone
    • Be CLOSED for up to 36 hours as crews tie the new bridge into the existing roadway
  • No signed detours
  • The existing bridge will remain OPEN during construction of the new bridge

Construction is scheduled to begin in Spring 2027.

Estimated Total Cost: $11.2 million
