Happy New Year! 2024 is sure to be a big year for the airports in Missouri and the Multimodal Aviation Section. We look forward to working with airports and consultants to complete projects that have started and getting projects underway that have yet to begin.

BEAT THE BAT
Reminder: Tree clearing season is Nov. 1 – Mar. 31
Guidance from USFWS is, “If the trees cannot be removed before Mar. 31, the first step is a habitat assessment (Appendix A of the document linked below). If the habitat is deemed suitable, then a presence/absence (acoustic or mist nets) will need to be conducted between May 15 and Aug. 15. There is some uncertainty this year, though, because a new bat species will be listed this spring that is a more habitat generalist. We haven't received any guidance yet if criteria will change or not.”
Consultants, reminder for FY24 projects. Consultants should be using the most current version of FAARFIELD 2.1.1. To know what version you are using, look at the top of your FAARFIELD reports.
FAARFIELD v2.1.1 was released Dec. 22, 2023. The Tech Center’s webpage describes the changes.
